Mira, Day One continued

On Monday, I went to breakfast just around seven o'clock. While we were sitting there, one of the girls that is training to get a dog said, "The awkwardnesses of Canada." I thought that was kinda funny.

After breakfast, we did an exercise going from the table to our rooms and back. We checked out a map of the campus, somewhat. We each got a chance to walk the route to the kennel. After that, we each had to walk around the kennel--well, first go to the kennel again. Then, each of us walked around the kennel once clockwise and once counterclockwise.

I had just started my lap for the third time when Pierre, one of the trainers,  caught me and on my way back, I'd veered into the street. I corrected myself, and made it back to the sidewalk.

I decided to stop and wait for Eric to ask me to  rework it. He came up and asked me, "Why did you stop?" "Do you doubt yourself?"
I replied, "I thought I needed to rework that problem."
Ahbee, wearing purple sweater, walks with long white cane on a sidewalk.
Here I am walking with my cane on the sidewalk.
He answered, "You're doing fine." So I continued going back to the area I've been staying.

Next, we had a snack available to us if we wanted. Finally, for the last exercise of the morning, Eric handed three girls a harness. I shared mine with Meredith, and K shared with L. They explained the parts on the harness. They explained what those areas were for.

We had lunch. Lunch was vegetable and noodle soup. That was like an appetizer. We then had shepherd's pie.  I also had for dessert, pineapple and strawberries. Yum!

Next, the girls got little rest to do whatever. At about one o'clock, all of us had been instructed to get on the couches. After that, the trainers, Ian and Pierre, helped us learn some of the French commands. We got to command them holding the harness and pretending they were our guide dogs. It was a fun way for us to learn the commands! We had fun correcting each of them.

Two girls holding a harness. One is leading the other.
Here I am with Meredith pretending to be my dog. See the harness between us?
We finally had dinner. We had salad, pork with tasty delicious sauce, potatoes, and broccoli! Awesome! I ate watermelon for my dessert. Giselle the chef  offered us some cake or I think a chocolate square or watermelon. I thought the pork and broccoli and watermelon were my favorite dishes for dinner.

All of us girls had been directed "Practice being dogs for each other and also being the person who commands the dog."  All of us got to be at least one of those. Kayla had gotten a headache and couldn't practice with us. I really wanted her to but that wouldn't be or rather wasn't a good idea. I didn't disturb her, though. That's all for day one.
